Today's special stage started directly from the bivouac at Azougui, Mauretania. It brought the competitors a full day and 367 km 100% on sand, starting with an impressive panorama when going down the col of Azougui in the morning light. It took them on the road to Nouakchott, Mauretania, and across some dunes to the white valley. There the navigational skills were tested again to find the hard track to Tifoujar. After the downhill to El Gleitat bestrewn with rocks the route followed the last oued of the valley unknown to the competitors all the way to Izigui before it got open all the way to the finish near Akjoujt, Mauretania. A short liaison of 24 km linked the finish with the bivouac at Akjoujt, Mauretania.
